Baby Shower

Some of the other teachers and TAs in my grade level at school threw a fun shower for us this weekend. Here are some of the photos.

Vero had the kids in my class help make the sign in the background- cute!

Bev is getting ready for a baby food tasting competition between me and Nate....except some of the things they made us taste weren't baby food (Thai chili sauce, hot mustard, etc.)!

This is me tasting the chicken baby food and trying to guess what it is. Of course, I didn't guess chicken, because who knew chicken could be made into a texture like that?? We will not be feeding this one to our baby!

Nate has a go at it. He ended up winning by 1!

Another game was that they gave everyone a photo of me and one of Nate. People had to cut up the photos to try to make a photo of what our baby will look like. This one was particularly scary. They also had to guess the name, weight, length, and birthday.

Nate is trying out the Boppy breastfeeding pillow from Maya & Mike and marveling at its awesomeness.

Marcia brought us back UNC gear for the baby from the States- a onesie and two blankets! (And just so you know, even if it was a girl, I'd still be putting her in this stuff!) You know what they say, "I'm a Tarheel born..."

Cute onesies from Tzung-Mei and Pauli. "Baby bug" and "super fly."

Autographed poetry book for the baby

The girls who organized and hosted the shower...many thanks!!

The Kids at School

The kids at school provide endless entertainment regarding my growing belly. Here are a few interesting tidbits.

1. Before CNY, William said to me, "Mrs. Dennison, when the baby is coming, you'll need to go to the bathroom. Then the egg will come out." Clearly, William thinks I'm giving birth to a chicken.

2. My belly button sticks out, and it's more visible in some clothes than others. Megan pointed at my belly button the other day and said, "Mrs. Dennison, is that the baby's finger sticking out?"

3. Marissa: "Mrs. Dennison, can I have your baby?" Um, no!

4. The kids are starting to get a little jealous of the baby! It's like they're the older siblings! At first, they were all completely excited. Now, they're still very excited for the most part, but I have started occasionally getting comments like, "Why do you have to have a baby?" or "You don't need to have a baby," mostly from girls in the class. Definitely wasn't expecting the jealousy- very interesting!

5. I was sitting with a child close on either side of me during writing time, working on their poems. All of the sudden, the baby stretched across my belly and it contorted quite obviously. It totally startled the kids! The looks on their faces were hilarious!

32 Weeks

32 weeks and counting! Baby Dennison seems to be doing as well as ever, and is growing like crazy. Last time we went to the doctor, about a week ago, Grace estimated that he was almost 4 1/2 lbs already!

Exciting news on the name front: we have a new contender! We're still reserving the right to change our minds up until the last minute, and we want to surprise everyone when the baby is born, so you'll just have to keep waiting and wondering!

I have to explain this photo. It's a shot of what I see when I look down. That's right, there are no feet in the photo, just belly. I haven't measured my circumference recently, so I just did that out of curiousity...38 inches! Holy cow. And Grace says there is usually another growth spurt around 34 weeks...uh-oh!

Random CNY Photos

Here are some random Chinese New Year photos we took around town with Nate's beloved iPhone. I have to admit, the quality is better than I thought it would be considering it's a phone.

This is the year of the tiger, so we'll have a tiger baby. This tiger display was inside a mall and made completely of flowers.

Dried sea cucumbers, sea horses, abalone, etc. for sale at the grocery store. Yum!

BPA Debate

For those of you who don't take the BPA stuff seriously, read the link below. (Now you see why I only microwave leftovers in glass containers and drink from a BPA-free waterbottle!)
