Fall Farm Field Trip

Elise had no school a couple of days last week and Finley was home sick, so we took a field trip to a farm. It happened to have some old, rescued fairy tale structures as well, which was random but neat.

The kids rode horses for the first time!

We got to feed the goats, too.

Then we went to their pumpkin patch and chose a couple of winners to take home.

And here's the tired, sick one a couple of days later.  Poor thing had a virus for a week which turned into pneumonia, but now he's on antibiotics and on the mend (we hope!).

Misc

The tree in our next door neighbors' yard. We are loving the fall colors after 7 years away!

The kids are going to a pediatric dentist office that was recommended to us by the special needs group at F's school and we couldn't be more happy. They have been so good with Finley, and when Elise had her turn this week they did a quick coat of sparkly nail polish as a treat because she behaved so nicely!

This one caught an awesome virus that had him out of school all last week. Despite his appetite being less than stellar, I caught him outside stuffing handfuls of chives into his face! Hey, whatever it takes to get them to eat something green!

We were concerned when Finley chose the devil paint, but then she told us it was a dragon, haha.

National Cathedral

Trip into DC to briefly see the National Cathedral and gardens, go to another awesome playground, and have pizza lunch at one of Nate's old favorite restaurants.

Some HK friends were in the area to see their son so we got to have lunch with them! Bruce was the other AP when we first arrived at HKIS.

The Shipment

Nate and I haven't had any dates out without the kids since we moved here. We don't have a babysitter yet, and finding one is a little more complicated for us since s/he needs to be a bit more qualified. Fortunately most places are much more kid-friendly here than in HK. We usually go out to dinner as a family once per week, and a few weeks ago we tried Maggianos. The waiter was insane, but super good with the kids. He even dressed them up as chefs!

And then this happened. Honestly, while I was excited to receive our belongings after over 3 months, I was also dreading having to deal with 102 boxes of stuff and all the packing materials in which it arrived. It was about a week of complete insanity dealing with it all... Well, dealing with most of it. We can't put everything where it needs to go until we finish the basement, so for now we have all kinds of things sitting in weird places. But that's okay, because I've been reminding myself that it will take us a good year to get somewhat settled.
