Getting Closer...

So it's 12:30am and I'm not sleeping right now. Why, you ask? Because at 39 weeks and 3 days, I'm finally starting to have contractions! Woohoo! I went to the doctor today, and she said I'm 2cm dialated and on my way! That was a big surprise, because I was convinced nothing was happening. Grace said my pain tolerance must be high enough that I just wasn't really bothered by it. (I have to admit I felt a bit proud about that.) We'll see how I hold out in labor, though! That's going to be a different story!

Since my appointment with Grace, I seem to have started having real contractions (as opposed to Braxton-Hicks). We called the hospital to give them a "heads up," as far as a room and all. The midwife took down my information and told me to call them back when the contractions are painful enough that I can't/don't want to talk during them. Until then, I should try to rest as much as possible. I have already tried to go to sleep once, but so far it's just not happening. I should really get some rest, but the pain and excitement is making it a bit difficult. Of course, Nate is happily slumbering away right now. At least one of us will be somewhat rested!
